American coach Nate Weiss helped unlock Matheus Pereira’s true potential in individual coaching sessions. Pereira was on loan at 1. FC Nürnberg from Sporting CP in Portugal. After working with Nate Weiss for a year at Nürnberg, Matheus was signed by West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League. He initially joined on loan, but after one season, he signed a four-year contract with West Brom and head coach Sam Allardyce.
Professional and Individual Coaching Career in Europe
Nate Weiss, born in Brooklyn, New York, developed his philosophy in coaching at the age of 15. At just 18, he made his way to Europe where he played professional soccer in Spain, Israel, Serbia, Ireland, and Sweden, and also worked as a youth coach at every club he played for, further developing his philosophy. In Latvia, he even won a cup and participated in the UEFA Europa League.
In Germany, Nate has worked for the German soccer association in various capacities, as well as at the academy of Bundesliga club Spvgg Greuther Fürth. In these roles, he has continued to refine his individual coaching techniques and philosophy.
For the past four years, Nate has been working as the technical/individual coach for the first team and the academy of 1. FC Nürnberg, in the 1. Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga, respectively. Afterwards, he was signed by 1. Bundesliga team VfB Stuttgart.
Update: Nate Weiss joins FC Bayern Coaching Staff
FC Bayern have signed Nate Weiss. The US-American moves from VfB Stuttgart to the FC Bayern Campus and will be responsible for the performance and transition area as an individual coach.
