MIGUEL LIAM LEMMING

About me
I began my football journey at age 16 with the Zimbabwe U17 National Team (1994), progressing to Rhodes University in South Africa (1997), then to the U23 Olympic Games qualifiers (1999), and finally to the full Zimbabwe National Team for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers (1999). I was a first-team player for Arcadia United FC in Zimbabwe before heading to Europe for trials in 2000 with Huddersfield FC and Barnet FC in the UK, and L’Aquila FC in Italy. A career-threatening back injury shifted my path, and I chose to pursue higher education.
In 2001, I received a full-ride scholarship to study in the USA. I was first recruited to Harris-Stowe State College (NAIA) in St. Louis, MO, then transferred after one semester to Palm Beach Atlantic College (NAIA). That same year, the school transitioned to NCAA status and became Palm Beach Atlantic University. I competed in NCAA Division III during the probationary year (2002), then continued in NCAA Division II, graduating with a BSc in 2004 and an MBA in 2006. I was honored with induction into the Palm Beach Atlantic University Hall of Fame in 2010.
During my college years, I also played in the PDL for Indiana Invaders (2001) and Palm Beach Pumas (2002–2006). In 2010, I trialed with Philadelphia Union FC during their inaugural MLS season but retired from pursuing a professional career after not making the final cut at age 33.
I then moved into coaching, completing advanced Coerver Coaching training (2002–2007) and leading Rancocas Valley FC U17 to victory in the New Jersey Ryder State Cup Final (2011/2012). I hold a USSF C License waiver.
After returning to Zimbabwe in 2010 following 10 years in the USA, I was deeply moved by the poverty and lack of opportunities for youth. Motivated to create change, I founded Ten Toes Africa, Inc.—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization—to provide scholarships and support to disadvantaged and at-risk children, helping them stay in school, avoid street life, and graduate with hope for a better future.
